Sicily, Italy

90% Carricante and 10% Catarratto. Quite a pungent nose showing very ripe Sicilian lemon and lemon leaf as well as fresh dough and subtle honey. It is incredibly zesty and zippy on the palate but concentrated at the same time. It has decent body and some good texture balanced by the wonderful ripe lemon flavours persistent minerality and citrus-like acidity. It almost reminds me of a Lemon Drop cocktail! This white makes seafood dishes shine, think seafood pastas, creamy garlic prawns or creamy goat cheeses.

The Torre Mora wines are produced by Tenute Piccini who are actually based in Tuscany. The two vineyards of Torre Mora are located in Rovittello, in the municipality of Castiglione di Sicilia and at Contrada Torre, in the municipality of Linguaglossa. The vine age is between 14 and 17 years. Due to the steep slopes on which the vineyards are situated, they use spurred cordons on the small areas with flat land and albarello / bush vines on the terraces. The soil is purely volcanic and is extremely fertile and is rich in minerals and trace elements from the volcanic eruptions.
